CASA is a nationwide organization advocating for Latino, immigrant, and working-class communities. In Virginia, our members are committed to ensuring key initiatives like a $15 minimum wage, the Virginia Great Outdoors Act, anti-rent gouging, and health care for all kids are prioritized. These measures promote economic stability, equal opportunities, and the well-being of every resident. By protecting our environment and expanding access to essential services, we can build a stronger, more equitable Virginia for future generations.
Minimum wage ( HB 1928): CASA is fighting to increase the minimum wage in Virginia. HBX, would increase the minimum wage in VA from $12/hr to $15/hr.
HBXX Would:
Amend the Virginia Minimum Wage Act, increasing the minimum wage to $15/hr over the course of several years, joining states like New Jersey, New York, and Maryland that have already increased their minimum
Local Anti-rent Gouging Authority (HB 2175 + SB 1136): Housing is critical to infrastructure and, we believe, a human right. The greatest asset in any community is its people – their health, prosperity, and quality of life are at the core of measuring community sustainability.
Anti-Rent Gouging
Ensuring Health Care for All Children in Virginia: Virginia must ensure all children, regardless of immigration status, have access to comprehensive health care. Without full coverage, children often face delays and inadequate care, leading to worse health outcomes. Expanding access to complete health care will allow every child to thrive, strengthening families and communities across the Commonwealth.
Cover All Kids
Virginia Great Outdoors Act (HB2059 ): CASA is fighting to protect our environment by supporting clean air, national parks, and vital laws like RGGI and the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA). These measures reduce pollution, fight climate change, and promote clean energy. Protecting our natural resources improves health, supports biodiversity, and ensures a sustainable future.
