“Mi Espacio” is an afterschool youth leadership development program designed to create a nurturing environment for Latino and first-generation high school students. It helps them build the confidence, skills, and knowledge necessary to graduate from high school and pursue their post-secondary goals. This personalized program emphasizes academic success, leadership development, and socioeconomic integration.

It offers a comprehensive approach that includes academic instruction, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), college and career preparation, health and wellness workshops, financial education, professional development sessions, and mentoring opportunities. Currently, Mi Espacio operates at Gar-Field High School on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM, and at Forest Park High School on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the same hours.

The program aims to harness both individual strengths and the collective power of group problem-solving and community organizing. It supports Latino high school students throughout Prince William County, focusing on leadership development, financial literacy, college access, and personal enrichment activities.

“Mi Espacio” also provides support for understanding FAFSA/VASA, a financial aid program that covers college tuition for undocumented students and those ineligible for FAFSA living in Virginia. Participants receive assistance from CASA in completing the VASA application for themselves or their children, ensuring access to financial resources for higher education.

*Note: we accept applications for the youth programs on a rolling basis, but our youth programs work with specific partner schools.*
