CASA mobilizes and organizes its sizeable membership to both lead and participate in passing several critical bills that would transform the everyday lives of immigrants and working families in Maryland. In coalition with partners across the state, we advocate for a variety of immigrant rights bills.

Healthcare for All through the Access to Care Act

Undocumented immigrants are ineligible for healthcare through the Affordable Care Act, leaving 275,000 immigrant Marylanders without care. The Access to Care Act would change that by ensuring ALL income-eligible Marylanders can purchase coverage through the exchange, regardless of status.

Tenants' Rights

Everyone deserves the opportunity to live in stable, safe, fair, and affordable homes. We must strengthen laws that guarantee health and safety standards for renting families. The General Assembly can do that by preventing hazardous living conditions, prohibiting arbitrary and discriminatory evictions, allowing tenants to reclaim their belongings after eviction, and invest in programs that keep families and communities together.

Climate Justice and Environmental Equity

It is our human right as people living on this Earth to live in a safe and habitable planet where all communities, including migrants, can thrive. This climate emergency humanity faces today is fueled by capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism. Everyone deserves to live with dignity on this planet.
