The Granny Project

Recipes from Grandmothers from across the Globe

Youth bring neighbors from different backgrounds and cultures together through weekly watch parties, where they will be cooking new recipes with a new “Granny” from the neighborhood. Each week, youth leaders will additionally assemble and deliver 30 free food boxes to McElderry Park neighbors with all the ingredients needed to cook the weekly dish. Stay tuned to this page for weekly recipes and follow along links.

The Granny Project is a summer project designed by multicultural youth from CASA and HeartSmiles to combat food insecurities in the McElderry park, Baltimore neighborhood.

The Granny Project started in 2019 with HeartSmiles. When the COVID-19 pandemic  began the project turned into a virtual cooking show, in which students were bringing awareness to food insecurity and providing food for families. HeartSmiles has now partnered with CASA for this summer’s 2022 session of the project.
