26 APRIL 2022, WASHINGTON, DC – CASA Legal Director Nick Katz issued the following statement as Supreme Court hears oral arguments for Biden v. Texas. Over 100 members of the immigrant advocacy organization joined a rally in front of the Supreme Court to show the country that Remain in Mexico cannot stand.

“Our members are watching the Supreme Court today, counting on the Justices to do the right thing and allow the Biden administration to end the Remain in Mexico policy once and for all. For too long this cruel and inhumane policy has denied immigrants their human right to seek asylum, separating families and placing thousands of people in dangerous conditions in Mexico. Together with Title 42, Remain in Mexico marks one of the darkest periods in our nation’s history, where we turned our backs on the immigrants that make our communities vibrant and strong. It is time to turn the page and engage in meaningful policy change where Black, Brown and Indigenous immigrants are welcomed and given the resources they need to thrive, rather than forced to endure unsafe and inhumane conditions.”
