Harrisburg, PA — In response to the Clearfield County Commissioners hearing on their decision to accept or deny ICE contracts. The commissioners failed to keep ICE out of Pennsylvania, put people over profit and reinstituted fear and uncertainty for immigrant families across the state.

The Clearfield County commissioners voted on November 3, 2021 to move forward with plans to to turn a privately-owned prison in the Moshannon Valley into an ICE detention facility.

“No one and certainly not Clearfield County – should profit off of the incarceration of human beings. The immigrant community in Pennsylvania has tirelessly worked throughout the pandemic to keep people safe, healthy and fed. There is no reason that they should live in fear because of elected officials who misguidedly see this as an opportunity for economic growth” said Kyle Rivers CASA Pennsylvania’s Advocacy Specialist
