Ama joined CASA as Legal Director in 2022, bringing to the organization a wealth of experience supporting and advocating for low-income, Black and Brown, and immigrant populations.
Throughout her legal practice, Ama has directly represented, supervised, and mentored cases before various immigration courts such as the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), and several criminal and civil courts in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.
In her role as CASA’s Legal Director, Ama oversees the delivery of high-quality legal services in the areas of immigration, employment, and housing law. Ama also supports the organization’s policy advocacy and organizing priorities.
Prior to joining CASA, Ama was a Managing Attorney at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition, leading direct legal services for detained adults and unaccompanied children in the DC area. Ama is a 2011 graduate of Salem College, and a 2014 graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law.
