11 February, 2021, Annapolis, MD – After the Ways and Means Committee amended Maryland’s RELIEF Act to include immigrant taxpayers in tonight’s meeting, CASA Research and Policy Analyst Cathryn Ann Paul issued the following statement.

“From the dawn of the pandemic until present day, immigrants have risked their lives bringing food to our tables and care to our families. Now that Maryland’s COVID relief bill rightfully includes all taxpayers, we need the House floor, Maryland Senate, and Governor Larry Hogan to support all families. Immigrant taxpayers have been cut from most forms of COVID relief and that discrimination impacts not just them but also their US citizen children and spouses. We are tremendously thankful to the advocacy of the Maryland Black Caucus and the Maryland Latino Caucus who fought to ensure that no Marylander would be left behind during this crisis.”
