President Biden’s Executive Order: Parole in Place for Undocumented Spouses of U.S. Citizens

On June 18, 2024, President Biden announced a series of administrative measures on immigration. Among them is a measure that provides relief to eligible undocumented spouses and children of U.S. citizens who have lived in the country for at least 10 years, passed criminal and other background checks, and meet other requirements. It is estimated that over 500,000 individuals may be able to request “parole-in-place,” improving their access to work permits and a path to citizenship based on their U.S. citizen family member.
