A Second Targeted Attack to Dehumanize the Haitian Population

WASHINGTON DC – National immigrant advocacy organization CASA strongly denounces the Trump administration’s latest attack on the Haitian immigrant community through its cruel and likely unlawful termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti. This termination is yet another targeted political decision aligned with President Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda and well-documented hostility toward Haitians; one that will have devastating human and economic consequences across the country.

Cathryn Ann Paul Jackson, CASA’s Public Policy Director, issued the following statement.

“This termination endangers the lives of 500,000 Haitians throughout the US, tearing families apart and forcing individuals to return to the very same dangerous conditions that they fled from. This is not just cruel - it’s a death sentence for many. This is yet another example of systemic anti-Blackness and xenophobia that the Trump administration is famous for.
“For years, Haitian immigrants have endured racist rhetoric and vile insults from President Trump, and now, we see that same disregard for Black lives in action. This decision is a calculated attack on Black immigrants, on working-class families, and on the fundamental human right to safety. We will not stand while hundreds of thousands of families are put at risk and thrown into crisis. CASA will continue fighting with every tool we have to stop this termination and defend our communities.”
