ROCKVILLE, MD – On Wednesday morning, CASA will file a lawsuit against a landlord charging vulnerable tenants illegal fees for water in Germantown, Maryland. The Spanish-speaking tenants have organized under CASA’s legal department to fight back against their landlord, who has failed to identify abnormalities in usage, charges residents hundreds of dollars per month in water bills, and threatens to evict residents for nonpayment of rent when the residents complain that the Defendants are not living up to their contractual, statutory, and common law obligations.
