CASA’s Americorps Program in Pennsylvania
CASA launched the program in Pennsylvania in 2017, thanks to the support of the PA State Service Commission, PennSERVE. The Program, currently named “Workforce and Economic Empowerment,” offers economic opportunity and job readiness services to low-income Pennsylvanians.
On the economic opportunity side, CASA provides one-on-one and group-based financial education activities focused on preparing a household budget, credit management, and banking. CASA also helps eligible Lawful Permanent Residents apply for American citizenship. For job readiness, CASA provides one-on-one counseling helping individuals to prepare their resume, learn how to apply for jobs, and how to perform a successful job interview. CASA also organizes workshops and job fairs.
AmeriCorps members are based on CASA’s offices in York City and Lancaster County.
