CASA’s AmeriCorps Program in Maryland

With support from the Maryland Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism, CASA launched the program in Maryland in 2011. The “Maryland New Americans Opportunity Project” program offers economic opportunity and K-12 education services to low-income Marylanders. To maximize economic opportunities, CASA provides one-on-one and group-based financial education activities focused on preparing a household budget, credit management, and banking. CASA also helps eligible Lawful Permanent Residents apply for American citizenship. In addition, CASA runs after-school and in-school programs helping high-school students to improve their academic engagement, and help them to apply for college.

AmeriCorps members are based on CASA’s Rockville, Baltimore, and Langley Park offices, as well as in Baltimore City Community College.
