With the most recent parliamentary advice out, immigrant activists are adding increased pressure on Leader Schumer to deliver on citizenship in the federal budget reconciliation. The groups will ask for the Senate Leader to ignore the faulty assessment offered by the parliamentarian and to fulfill the promise that Democrats made. Activists will deliver postcards to Schumer in this visibility action. Democrats in the House and Senate have agreed immigration belongs in the budget reconciliation, and the American public overwhelmingly supports citizenship, and activists plan on moving Schumer to follow through.
As part of a nationwide effort to demand a pathway to citizenship be included in the reconciliation package, Make the Road New York, New York Immigration Coalition, Center for Popular democracy allies will hold a simultaneous rally outside Senator Schumer’s office in New York.
