Jessup, MD. — CASA, along with key community leaders and activists, will host a car parade in protest of the insufficient protections of the incarcerated and undocumented immigrants held by ICE at the Howard County Detention Cente. The car parade is an innovative response to the COVID-19 pandemic that allows Maryland residents to express their first amendment rights in a way that adheres to physical/social distancing. Activists will caravan to the detention center from a specific location. Audio/visual elements include protesters honking their car horns, shouting chants, and waving signs in their cars.

Members of the media interested in capturing this movement should contact Kim Propeack for logistical information and access to the protest. The safety and security of all involved is CASA’s highest priority during this crisis, resulting in safety precautions for interviews, protesting, and all other activities.
