Department of Schools and Community Engagement
Leadership Academy: A new venture between CASA and several academic and national and state institutions, through which these partners will combine their years of developing teaching and coaching best practices, curricula and organizing into an accessible leadership program for grassroots leaders and organizations interested in promoting positive policy and education change in their communities. It will be a regional training center committed to advancing economic, educational, political, social and racial justice.
Learning Together: An integrated, place-based family engagement initiative designed to build parents’ skills, confidence, and social capital to navigate the U.S. education system given their Limited English Proficiency (LEP), low-education attainment, and immigrant/cultural challenges. The inter-generational initiative provides support to parents from a child’s birth onward using principles rooted in the U.S. Department of Education’s prestigious Promise Neighborhoods Program.
Community Schools: In partnership with Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) and Internationals Network for Public Schools, CASA is establishing a new public high school in Langley Park. The vision for the school is to provide a quality, college and career preparatory education for low-income youth, first-generation college goers, English language learners, students of color, and other young people underrepresented in higher education.
