Langley Park & Riverdale Communities Gather in a Candlelight Vigil for Death of Mother

Langley Park & Riverdale Neighbors and Supporters, hold a moment of silence for their beloved community member.

What: Candlelight Vigil

Where:  Corner of Riverdale Rd. and Highway 410

When: Today, September 2nd at 6:30 PM

Riverdale, MD – Yesterday, a speeding driver stole the life of a mother, Thelma Hernandez Flores, a 31 year-old Mexican woman, and seriously injured her three-year old daughter, Isabella. Mother and daughter were crossing the intersection of Highway 410 and Riverdale Road, on their way home after grocery shopping.

Today, the Langley Park community joins the Riverdale community at the site of the accident to lift their candles to remember Ms. Flores and pray for the recovery of Isabella.

“We are shocked by the tragic and sudden loss of this mother”, said Elios Ramirez, a local community leader and CASA member. “We are praying for [Isabella’s] recovery and for the soul of our friend.”
