(Virginia) – This Tuesday, community members will link arms with media personalities and other leaders in their fields to celebrate the power of women and the need to get out the vote this November. Speaking to core issues – stopping domestic violence, raising the minimum wage, expanding health coverage, women leaders from across Northern Virginia will describe a campaign to communicate to voters impacted by working families issues about the importance of voting this November 3.
“Our Virginia campaign is a part of a national movement to bringing awareness and attention to the core issues that disproportionately impact women,” said Nayeli Lopez, a featured activist in the campaign. “But with Virginia politicians leading attacks against women’s healthcare and refusing to raise wages, we really have to fight right here at home for the respect that our families deserve.”
At Tuesday’s press conference, dozens of area leaders will announce their support for the campaign and commit to pressing on their followers and supporters to join. The Arlington County Board is expected to issue a proclamation in support of the effort at the event.
