CASA Celebrates Historical PGCPS’ International High Schools’ First Day of School Openings

 

PGCPS International High Schools open their doors to welcome students from over 30 countries. 

 

What: Ribbon cutting ceremony and inauguration of International High Schools

 

Where: First Stop: International High School at Langley Park | 5150 Annapolis Rd. Bladensburg, MD Second Stop: International School at Largo | 505 Largo Rd. Upper Marlboro, MD

 

When: Tuesday, August 25th  First Stop: 7:30 am Second Stop: 9:00am

(Prince George County) On Tuesday morning, Dr. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer of PGCPS and Gustavo Torres, Executive Director of CASA, celebrate the Inauguration of the International High School at Langley Park and the International High School at Largo. The schools are designed to meet the educational needs of English Language Learners, they are a first step to address the achievement gap for students with limited English Language skills.

 

The schools, a partnership between CASA, PGCPS, and Internationals Network for Public Schools, will provide hundreds of students with a holistic approach to education that includes an innovative curriculum that integrates language acquisition all content areas and stresses project-based learning. This partnership will also provide wrap-around services and enrichment opportunities for students and families,

 

“I feel extremely happy and nervous at the same time” said Advin Ortega, Freshman at one of the International Schools. “I will be meeting new friends, teachers and learning new things. I hope I can find the opportunity to take class that will help me in the future.”
