Langley Park, MD – Today, Langley Park residents will gather together to mourn another murder and call on residents to become more active in confronting community violence. A candlelight vigil will be held to with the victim’s family featuring faith leaders, county officials, and neighbors.

The victim, whose name has not yet been publicly released yet due to the ongoing investigation, was found dead of stab wounds in the early morning hours today. Children leaving for school walked by an intense crime investigation as they gathered for their school buses. His body was left by unknown assailants close to the front steps of the headquarters of CASA de Maryland, the state’s largest community organization for Latino and immigrant communities. The vigil for his death this evening comes almost four months after residents gathered to mourn the murder of another Langley Park young man.

“Our community has many struggles, but we also have committed families that will make the investment to make our neighborhood safe for everyone,” said Martin Cruz, a CASA activist and local resident.
