We hope you’ll all join us at 11 a.m. at historic Metropolitan AME Church on January 14th to stand up for the values of love, compassion and family as we begin a campaign of righteous resistance. We will join hands and stand together to oppose criminalization, mass deportation, and hate crimes. We are #HereToStay and we shall not be moved.
The rally in Washington DC, organized by CASA, Center for Community Change/Fair Immigration Reform Movement, Make the Road, the New York Immigration Coalition, United We Dream and SEIU, will feature immigrant and refugee leaders of all backgrounds, an event as diverse as America itself. Participants will make a public commitment to join together to defend and protect immigrant communities despite efforts to send us back into the shadows. The DC rally will be one of dozens of public actions and marches across America on January 14th where leaders of the immigrant rights’ movement stand alongside elected officials, faith, labor, education, LGBTQ and begin to fight back. We will also launch a proactive effort to demand human rights and dignity for recipients of DACA, undocumented immigrant families, refugees, and Muslim families targeted by the incoming Trump administration.
The Trump team has already announced that some of ITS FIRST MEASURES will target immigrants and Muslims. Trump and his frightening appointment choices want to deport millions of immigrants, rip families apart and DRIVE millions of PEOPLE INTO DESPAIR.
Just one week before Donald Trump’s inauguration as President, following an election where most Americans rejected his candidacy, it’s critical that the majority stand up and say NO to his extremist and Draconian proposals. Instead, we will show love for one another, share strength and human dignity.
